7:30 pm: Classics @ the Carriage House: The Day the Earth Stood Still

Screening The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) (Directed by Robert Wise)
Classics @ the Carriage House is a collaboration between the Cayuga Museum and Cayuga Community College. The cost for a season pass to the course is $45. Guests who are not enrolled in the class are always welcome at $5 admission. Anyone can sign-up online at Cayuga-cc.edu/communityed or by mail. Students of the course will receive emailed written notes and analysis prior to each viewing, along with curated reviews and insights from some of the best minds in film criticism.
The class meets once a month, on the first Monday of each month, from September through May. The class is held at 7:30 pm, with an introductory lecture by Michael Reiff. Michael Reiff is a teacher of Film and Media at Ithaca High School and CollegeNow Instructor at Tompkins Cortland Community College.

Need a midweek refresh? Join artist and yoga instructor Victoria Fitzgerald on the mat for a vinyasa flow in an artful atmosphere.
No experience needed, just bring a mat and channel your inner creative yogi!
Yoga in the Galleries is held on the second Wednesday of each month. In correspondence with the CNY Emerging Artist Project, we will feature the artwork of a different artist each month, inciting a new artful experience each session.
$10 drop in fee.

Spoken word enthusiasts, join us for an evening of celebrating writing in all of its forms.
Our program will begin with featured speaker bill berry, jr.
After the featured speaker’s program, there is an open mic portion of the evening in which audience members can share some of their own written work.
Word, revisited is held on the second and fourth Thursday of every month, November 14. Doors open at 5:30, program begins at 6:00. Admission is $3.
Word, revisited is a collaborative program of the Cayuga Museum, Olive Trees, a local literary magazine, and aaduna, an online adventure with words and images.

Description: "The Wall: A World Divided looks deep inside the revolution that swept across Europe two decades ago — with the November 1989 opening of the Berlin Wall — to understand how this remarkable event helped end the Cold War without a shot being fired." Geoff Starks, Director of Development and Outreach, will moderate: discussing the role that protest and public demonstration played in ending the Cold War and how this impacts our modern world exactly 30 years later. Change Makers Around the World, a Power of Protest Film Series, is presented in four, monthly documentaries from September to December. Each session will be hosted in the Carriage House Theater from 6:30-8:30PM.
Admission for each session is free, though donations to the museum are welcomed.
