Attention Emerging Artists!
The Cayuga Museum of History and Art in Auburn, NY is hosting a brand new series of rotating art exhibits in 2018. The series is designed to be a showcase of different emerging artists from central New York, and we are looking for a variety of styles.
WHEN & WHERE:
The series will feature a different artist each month, from March – December, with an opening reception on the third Thursday of each month.
The first reception will be on Thursday, March 15 at the Cayuga Museum, located at 203 Genesee Street, Auburn, NY 13021. The reception will be held from 5:30-7:30pm.
Work will be on display at the Cayuga Museum from the third Thursday until the Sunday before the third Thursday of the following month. (Example March 15 – April 15, providing three days for installation of the next artist.) The Museum is open Wednesday – Saturday, Noon – 5pm; with extended hours of Tuesday – Sunday from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
We will be accepting submissions of two dimensional artworks and sculpture from artists in the central New York area. Artists must be within driving distance of Auburn, work will not be accepted via mail. We will not accept submissions of video installations.
Artists are asked to submit up to 5 works of art that are representative of their body of work. Selected artists must have enough work to fill 465 square feet of gallery space (split between two galleries).
Due to space limitations, we cannot guarantee all submitted artwork will be included in the show.
If you would like to submit your work for consideration, please email the following information to email@example.com no later than Friday, December 29:
- 1-3 digital images per work submitted (you may submit up to 5 pieces, or series of works, to be considered)
- Dimensions of your work (each piece)
- Title(s) of your work
- Your email and phone number
- An artist statement describing the body of work
A local selection committee will be responsible for selecting the artists/artworks for this project.
The Cayuga Museum seeks to have a well-balanced and diverse series of artists, working in a variety of styles and mediums. All artworks must be finished works and ready to be installed. The Cayuga Museum reserves the right to remove artwork for any reason.
The committee will make selections for the full series in early January, with nine slots available. If you have a conflict please note it with your submission.
Work must be dropped off at the Cayuga Museum one week before the show is set to open. Artist must schedule the drop off with Museum staff, allowing time for consultation of layout and installation requirements.
Work must be picked up within a week of the show closing.
We will not handle any transactions; however you may sell art at the reception or leave your contact information to help you connect with a buyer. Any sold works may not be picked up by the buyer until after the exhibit has ended.
