Opening for Inside Standing Rock: Photographs by Alex Hamer
March 3, 2017 –
Join us for the opening of an original exhibit chronicling the events at the Oceti Sakowin Camp at the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation, through the eyes of photographer Alex Hamer.
Inside Standing Rock features photos from an historic gathering of Native Nations not seen in over 100 years. The rising of Indigenous youth, the fight for clean water, and the assertion of Native rights, to halt the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Alex Hamer is an Indian Country Media Network photographer and Onondaga territory resident. In 2016, he traveled extensively in Indian country with trips to Washington D.C., Standing Rock, New York to grab photos of the #NoDAPL protectors, Iroquois youth and Winona LaDuke just to name a few. This is his first solo exhibition at the Cayuga Museum.
