April 12, 20186:00 pm: Dr. Victor Garlock at word, revisited6:00 pm: Dr. Victor Garlock at word, revisitedApril 12, 2018 – The Cayuga Museum, in partnership with Olive Trees and aaduna, is continuing a program dedicated to writers and writing. Word, revisited is a bimonthly, community program exploring original writing in all its diverse, intriguing, provocative, and exciting forms. Professor and published author Dr. Victor Garlock is our featured reader on April 12. An expert on hypnosis, sleep and dreams, his book Your Genius Within: Understanding Sleep, Dream Interpretation and Learning Self-Hypnosis earned him a five-star rating among readers and remained in the Top 100 books in the category of Dreams with Amazon for over four months. Dr. Garlock was a psychology professor at Cayuga Community College for 30 years, and taught psychology and education courses at a number of other colleges, private vocational institutes, and maximum security prisons. Garlock has conducted enrichment programs for elementary, middle and high school students on the topics of sleep and dreams. He has also led in-service workshops on hypnosis and stress management for hospitals, community mental health centers and private corporations. Word, revisited takes place on the second and fourth Thursday of each month in the intimate space of the Carriage House Theater behind the Cayuga Museum. Each evening’s program includes both a featured speaker and an open mic session. Doors will open at 5:30 pm for open mic sign-up; the featured speaker will begin at 6:00. Admission is $3 per person, cash bar is available. All proceeds benefit the Cayuga Museum. |

April 26, 20186:00 pm: Rachael Ikins at word, revisited6:00 pm: Rachael Ikins at word, revisitedApril 26, 2018 – The Cayuga Museum, in partnership with Olive Trees and aaduna, is continuing a program dedicated to writers and writing. Word, revisited is a bimonthly, community program exploring original writing in all its diverse, intriguing, provocative, and exciting forms. Our featured reader on April 26 is Rachael Ikins. Ikins is a 2016 Pushcart, 2013 CNY Book Award nominee, award winning poet/artist. Her artwork has appeared in one-woman and group exhibits in Syracuse galleries, from Hamilton to Albany, and the NYS Fair. In July of 2017 she juried into SUM a show by PATF at Point of Contact Gallery, Syracuse. She has been a featured poet/artist at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, Tyler Gallery at SUNY Oswego, Aaduna fundraiser in Auburn, and at Palace Poetry, Syracuse. Ikins founded and moderated Monday Night Poetry at Sushi Blues, feature & open mic, Hamilton NY. She has published 6 chapbooks and a novel, covers by Rachael. The novel Totems (Log Cabin Books) is her first illustrated book. Clare Songbirds Publishing released her first full length poetry collection, Just Two Girls in August of 2017. Rachael is a member of NLAPW. She belongs to Associated Artists of CNY and other guilds. She lives on Star Lake in Foxfire with her dogs, cats, and salt water fish tank filled with creatures that glow in the dark, many plants, books, and her garden.
