7:00 pm: "Like Moses of old": What Pandita Ramabai learned from Harriet Tubman's life (Lecture)7:00 pm: "Like Moses of old": What Pandita Ramabai learned from Harriet Tubman's life (Lecture) – In 1887, Indian humanitarian Pandita Mary Ramabai visited 65-year-old Harriet Tubman Davis in Auburn and wrote about Tubman's life story in a letter to her daughter Manorama. Her account shows us not only how Tubman Davis spoke about her life, but why she inspired people across the world. Phillip Hesser will discuss this meeting of "remarkable women" - which included an "Indian girl from the far West" who also met with Tubman Davis - and how Tubman Davis' life story became a life-changing experience. Free, open to the public, in the Carriage House Theater. |
