Life Imitates Art

Have you ever wanted to be a part of a famous artwork?

In 2020, staff at the Cayuga Museum spend part of quarantine imitating some of the artwork in our collection, part of a nationwide trend called Between Art and Quarantine. Take a look at how we’ve decided to make life imitate art:

Girl and Lamb, Unknown artist / Kirsten Gosch & “Lamb”
Portrait of a Man, Artist Unknown / Portrait of Geoff Starks
Mary Pitney Morgan, Charles Loring Elliott / Mallory Bleiler
Girl and Dog, Artist Unknown / Karyn Radcliffe and Dog

Now it’s your turn!

Take a look through these paintings from our collection and choose which you would like to imitate.

Here’s what you need to do to become part of the art:

  1. Choose your favorite artwork
  2. Find three things lying around your house
  3. Recreate the artwork with those items
  4. Share it with us! Go on Facebook or Instagram and tag the Museum (@cayugamuseum) in your post
