DESCRIPTION: “Who doesn’t love the girl on the beach, except, maybe, the girl on the beach? Set halfway around the world from wherever you are, this modern, innovative play uses fable and multi-media. It tells the archetypal story of a child who wants to leave home but encounters resistance from the adults in her life. They want her to be comfortable and secure just like they are…except they need Business Woman’s rose-colored glasses to believe that’s true.
Rocked by rising sea levels and sinkholes, power struggles between constantly changing political forces, garbage strikes, and economic uncertainty, they face the choice of destroying their world or saving it for the next generation. Surface Tension is a humorous and satirical romp through the forces of western femininity, capitalism, and climate change.”
