This summer, two of Auburn’s leading cultural institutions, the Cayuga Museum of History and Art, and the Seward House Museum, have joined forces to create an exciting new exhibit– Untold Stories: Treasures from the Seward Family Collection.

Showcasing items from the extensive collections of the Seward House Museum in our galleries, this unique collaboration explores the themes of family life in the Victorian era and the Seward family’s world travels. One of the most famous and influential American families of the 19th century, the Sewards were lifelong collectors who acquired treasures wherever they went. The Seward House Museum is packed full of far more materials than can ever be displayed at one time. Untold Stories presents a rare opportunity to see many of these objects, displayed and interpreted in a new way, including a piece of Queen Victoria’s wedding cake, Native Alaskan armor, a portion of Seward’s extensive pipe collection, and fans from around the world.

Untold Stories will be open from June 7 – August 30, 2015.  Check out our programs schedule for our planned collaborative events!
