Let’s Put a Case Research Lab Mural Downtown!

About the Project

Theodore Case: The Magic of Sound & Light

Theodore (Ted) Case belonged to one of Auburn’s most prominent business families. In his youth, Case discovered a love of the sciences, inherited from his father, Willard Erastus Case. Case was a true “mover and shaker,” displaying a love for the rapid progress of his day not only through his scientific interests but for his comparable love for fast-moving cars, boats, and later on the occasional plane.

Case’s scientific mind, along with ready access to the power, influence, and talent found throughout Central New York and the Finger Lakes Region, allowed him to transform a greenhouse on the property of his 203 Genesee St. home into one of the most progressive scientific research centers of the early twentieth century, accomplishing feats comparable to large city and university laboratories.

Arthur the Artist, A&M Graphics, and the Cayuga Museum of History & Art + Case Research Lab are teaming up to bring another stunningly vibrant mural to History’s Hometown, paying homage to the amazing achievements and philanthropy of Theodore Case, his team, and family. The creative is already started and this will be the largest, most vibrant, and detailed collaboration of our “Unique Medium” yet.

Arthur Hutchinson

Arthur Hutchinson is the artist responsible for the design of this mural. He is responsible for the creation of two prior Auburn murals: the "Welcome to Auburn" and "Harriet Tubman: Her Life in Freedom."

Arthur Hutchinson was born and raised in Auburn, NY to Jamaican parents. He attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where he received a bachelor's degree in architecture.
