Itinerary Overview
Monday, July 7 | Science Day
The first day of camp will serve as an introductory day, allowing campers to get to know each other and our staff. It will also be our science day. We will focus on some of the principles of the Case Research Lab, working with light and sound, as well as touring the lab and the museum. We are also going to do some other science experiments as well.
Tuesday, July 8 | Environment Day
In the AM, we will be joined by Theodore Black from SUNY ESF to investigate local water ecology through water insects. We are also going to be discussing the importance of a healthy ecosystem and how native plants help habitats flourish.
Wednesday, July 9 | Indigenous History Day
Learn all about the first people to called Upstate New York their home. Ganondagan State Historic Site will join us to tell stories about the history of the Seneca people, and will host activities designed to have campers learn more about local life from the Indigenous perspective.
Thursday, July 10 | Local History & Archaeology Day
Today is another culture focused day, where we will learn more about Auburn’s history with rangers from Harriet Tubman National Historical Park. In the afternoon, staff will be joined by Dr. Marie Lorraine-Pipes from SUNY Geneseo to lead an archaeology activity.
Friday, July 11 | Art & Art History Day
Our final day together will be all about art. There will be a brief lesson about art history from the museum curator Haley Boothe. Then local artist, Arthur the Artist (who is responsible for creating Auburn’s large public murals in the downtown) will lead a workshop for campers.
Registration is closed. Check back next year!
