Celebrate the opening of “Harriet: A Taste of Freedom” with Curator Larry Poncho Brown. Learn more about this Auburn-wide exhibit featuring pieces from over 45 individual artists, each inspired by the live and actions of Harriet Tubman. Admission is free during the reception, light refreshments will be provided.

Explore the cultural sites of Auburn and experience the full scale of the citywide art exhibition “Harriet: A Taste of Freedom.” Featuring the work of over 45 participating artists, you will join Curator Larry Poncho Brown on this tour as you dive deep in to the artwork inspired by the legacy of Auburn’s best known resident: Harriet Tubman. Lunch and parking passes are included in the price of admission.

Calling all young historians! On July 22, 10am-12pm, the NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center will be hosting a one-time event–‘Tubman’s Tots’. 5-7 year olds are welcome to participate in this free program that introduces the legacy of Harriet Tubman to Cayuga County youth. Event activities will include historical dress-up, historical figure introductions, coloring and puppet-making, a read-along, and hand painting! Some of Harriet’s favorite snacks will be provided, and every child will walk away with a Tubman activity book and free passes to the Harriet: A Taste of Freedom exhibition.

The Hands-On History Camp is back for its seventh year! The Cayuga Museum of History and Art, Seward House Museum , and the National Park Service welcome you to this fun camp for kids ages 8 – 10 as you explore Auburn and its history. Daily activities will include stop-motion film, a full Victorian tea party, walking tours of historic sites across Downtown Auburn, gardening, and so much more!

The C.A.S.E. (Culture, Art, Science, and Environment) Camp at the Cayuga Museum of History & Art is a youth camp that connects campers ages 12-14 with their community through the historical, natural, and cultural significance of the City of Auburn. Each day of camp will feature a different theme to explore, with partnering organizations joining on various days to dive into assorted topics.

The Skaneateles Festival in collaboration with Seymour Library and the Cayuga Museum of History & Art are proud to present an evening with the award winning Terra String Quartet. Winners of the 2025 Naumburg Chamber Music Competition and recent prizewinners at the 2025 Bordeaux and Wigmore Hall International Quartet Competitions, the Terra String Quartet is a vibrant young international ensemble based in New York City. They are composed of graduates of The Juilliard School, The New England Conservatory, Harvard University, and the Curtis Institute of Music. Known for their sincere storytelling, commitment to artistic excellence, and versatile approach to repertoire, TSQ strives to foster conversation and genuine human connection through their performances and pedagogy.

The incredible true story of one of America’s greatest heroes, Harriet Tubman. From her escape from slavery to the dangerous missions she led, setting free hundreds of slaves through the Underground Railroad. This screening is associated with the ongoing exhibit “Harriet: A Taste of Freedom” on display at the Cayuga Museum and other Auburn cultural sites.
