Revolutionary: Cayuga County’s Fight for Equality

This exhibit examines the powerful role local people and movements played in shaping the nation’s ongoing struggle to fulfill the ideals of the Declaration of Independence. From the fight to end slavery to the push for women’s suffrage and expanded civil rights, Cayuga County has long been a place where individuals challenged injustice and demanded change. This exhibition highlights the stories of community members who worked to make the American “experiment” more inclusive, demonstrating how the pursuit of freedom and equality did not end with the Revolutionary War but continues to this day.
